This tutorial looks at sizes of numbers.

Which is larger?

You need to know the order of numbers. You need to know whether -3 is bigger than -4 or not.

Lets look at the number line again.

You can see that positive numbers get larger as the number increases.
Negative numbers actually get smaller as the number increases. So -4 is smaller than -3.

The table gives some more examples.

Smaller Larger
-5                     -4
-3                     -1
-1                      1
-1.5                  -1
-3.5               -2.5
