Course Title: Running an e-safety Presentation for Parents

Curriculum / Subject Area: e-safety
School Phase: All

This autumn, to help schools inform parents of the issues surrounding the use of the Internet and promote safe behaviour in the use of technologies, we are launching a pack of resources in conjunction with Childnet International for use with parents in school.

We plan to launch the pack to coincide with Anti-Bullying week in November 2009, but delegates who attended the session at the ICT Conference in July will have piloted and further developed the materials.

The Parent pack will include materials to enable schools to run a twilight session for parents on e-safety. It will also include some of the latest resources and information available from CEOP, Childnet International and other organisations to share with parents.

‘One of the strongest messages I have received during my Review was about the role that schools and other services for children and families have to play in equipping children and their parents to stay safe online.’ Dr Tanya Byron, 2008
