Course Title: Using ICT to support Literacy for NQT's

Curriculum / Subject Area: ICT /Literacy
School Phase: First, Middle and Special

The aim of this course is to provide teachers new to Northumberland with a knowledge of the range of resources that are available in our schools. These include resources that we have purchased on behalf of schools and materials that have been created both by the L.A. consultants and by teachers within the authority.

Course participants will also have the opportunity to become familiar with all the Shoofly materials which cover all year groups from Foundation to Yr 6. There will be time to experiment making interactive Literacy games with Black Cat Literacy Activity Builder. Course members will have the opportunity to preview the exciting, extensive and interactive Literacy resources that are on the Knowledge Box, currently being set up in all First Middle and Special school.

By the end of the day the teachers attending will leave with a bank of information, skills and resources to use ICT effectively to deliver the Literacy curriculum.
