Course Title: Using ICT to support Numeracy for NQT's

Curriculum / Subject Area: ICT /Numeracy
School Phase: First, Middle and Special

The aim of this course is to provide teachers new to Northumberland with a knowledge of the range of resources that are available in our schools. These include resources that we have purchased on behalf of schools and materials that have been created both by the L.A. consultants and by teachers within the authority.

The interactive whiteboard will be extensively used ( note we use Smartboards at the centre) and a selection of  the Interactive Teaching Programmes from the Numeracy Strategy will be modelled.

Later in the day there will be time to experiment making interactive maths games with Black Cat Numeracy Activity Builder. Course members will have the opportunity to preview the exciting, extensive and interactive Maths resources that are on the Knowledge Box, currently being set up in all First Middle and Special school.

Course participants will also have the opportunity to become familiar with a range of additional maths resources from a selection of software companies. By the end of the day the teachers attending will leave with a bank of information, skills and resources to support them in their teaching of the maths curriculum.
