MyWorld Design and Technology screens
This program contains 7 different My World screens which can be downloaded and installed on your school computer.

The screens cover simple on-screen designing and are linked to the standard wood sizes commonly used for Primary D&T.

You need to have the My World program installed on your computer for the D&T screens to work.

Northumberland schools are licensed for My World and will find it on the NGfL cd-rom.

The seven programs are:

2D blocks

A  program which allows pupils to create simple 2D views of their designs. These can be printed out and used by pupils as plans to build the design.

2D blocks + dowel

The same principle as 2D above but with the addition of dowel. Both programs encourage children to try to develop an understanding of the relationship between the drawn image and the built 3D product.
House design

In this program pupils have to arrange the different elements to create a side view of a house. To develop the idea of the program further get pupils to design and build a 3D house with 10mm square wood which they can then attach the paper plans to.
Block Pack

The profiles in this design screen match the dimensions of different strips of wood and dowel. Together they can be used for pupils to design and make 3D designs in wood.
Tile Kit

This program comprises of a selection of grids and sections of wood. It is used to design simple printing blocks. Once printed the printing block can be built up using 10mm sq wood strip.
3D blocks

The following two programs allow pupils to experiment with trying to represent a 3D shape on a flat screen.
3D blocks and wheels

The same as 3D blocks but with the addition of wheels.
The file below contains 7 Design and Technology My World screens. Click on the file to download it - remember where you have saved the file! It is a good idea to put it in My Documents or a folder called downloads - just so you remember where it is.
Once downloaded find the file and double click on it. The program will automatically install the My World screens into your My World folder.

Run your My World program - look for a new screen called Title - this will run the start up screen for your 7 new D&T My World screens.
