What our tapestry is about :
National Identity and The Food We Eat
What makes our area special: a farming community; sheep and pigs; Longstone Lighthouse, home of grace Darling; St Maurice's church in Ellingham; Bamburgh Castle; the coast with fish in the sea.

How we made our tapestry :
We started discussing ideas with the children at the beginning of March.  Children thought about the two briefs and did their designs which were displayed together in the hall.  All the designs were discussed and common features/interesting features chosen to work into the tapestry.  We sent a letter asking parents for oddments of material etc. . We had a super response.  We had help from parents, other staff in school, grannies and W.I. Members.  We discussed techniques and ideas together and asked different children to work on different areas of the tapestry.  The children were all eager to help and every child did at least one thing on the tapestry.  They were very proud of their work !
