Ellington First School

What our tapestry is about :
Our tapestry is about 'Sporting activities and 'The Body'
The children wanted to show activities they had particular interests in.  They wanted to also show significant information about Ellington.  It has the last working colliery in Northumberland.  It is near the sea and countryside

How we made our tapestry :
The tapestry was made in Art Club involving children in Years 3 & 4 after school.  It took us from Christmas until Easter to finish it.
The children thought about the theme and decided how we would represent the theme through drawing then making their own people involved in sporting and recreational activities.
We used a lot of time doing tapestry backgrounds and making figures.  We used proggy mat technique, collage, embroidery and appliqué.
We all enjoyed doing it so much that we intend making this activity a regular part of the Art Club curriculum
