What our tapestry is about :
The allocated themes were families and transactions.  As ours is a small rural community, transactions of all forms revolve round families.  We chose to include buildings and farms to represent family businesses.  School and leisure activities denote sharing time and ideas.  Rail and road links were incorporated as we rely heavily on them for many transactions.  The river is the South Tyne which runs through the centre of the village and is central to our origins.

How we made our tapestry :
All children from nursery to Year 4 were involved.  Their ideas formed the basis of the whole design process.  Each class was allocated an aspect of the tapestry to produce.  Parent helpers were a bonus and members of the community lent equipment and materials.  Weaving was a major feature and included standard weaving, stick weaving and peg loom weaving.
