What our tapestry is about :
Our brief was 'Communication' and 'The Countryside' around us.  The children painted pictures of the local environment and these were used as the inspiration for the small fabric painted squares.  We then talked about communication and sorted out ways in which we talked to each other.  On the tapestry you will see people speaking, telephones, computers and post boxes.  The hands represented communication between people with other languages and sign language.  The lines that came from each area to the faces showed the people were the link for all communication

How we made our Tapestry:
We made our tapestry a community project.  Every Wednesday afternoon ladies from the village and parents came and taught small groups of children specific skills--cross stitch, knitting, general sewing, pom-pom making, fabric painting and embroidery.

The final tapestry was assembled by Class 3 and they helped sew it all together--it was very difficult!.  It took about four months altogether ( including the planning stage).
