Henshaw First School

What our tapestry is about :
The theme first theme of our tapestry is 'Games we Like to Play'  We have tried to represent as many as possible in the design.  We have included all the games we enjoy playing.  The second theme is ' The Mind' This is represented by the large head and it is filled with thoughts.  The ears are knitted and we made the eyes with balls

How we made our Tapestry:
The head in the centre was mainly done using different pink yarns and French knitting.  One of the parents very kindly turned masses of the bobbins.  The fringe edge was done with a variety of yarns from Linton Tweeds and attached on to the canvas using a rug hook.  The children also did card weaving using our yarns from Linton Tweeds.  Quite a lot of plastic canvas work was done using the circular and square canvases.  The children used iron--on transfer crayons for a number of the sport pictures.  The large bobbles were again made using our wealth of yarns.  The ears of the head were knitted and the protruding eyes were made using a circular oasis covered with socks and the pupil of the eye was made using Hama melt beads.  The side of the head was made using sequin waste which was woven with a variety of wools an then sewn together and stuffed.  We were all very pleased with our achievement.  We hope to display the tapestry in our school entrance hall
