Kingsway First School

What our tapestry is about :
Our themes were 'Sport' and 'Play' in Blyth.
The design started with the Broadway Circle roundabout which is a familiar focal point in Blyth
Coming off the roundabout into areas which were used for play and sport e.g. Spartans football ground, school yard, beach, harbour, Ridley Park

How we made our Tapestry:
We didn't get our tapestry until February half term and worked on it until May.
Children from Key Stage 2 were involved with the planning and construction and nursery children helped with the road, making flowers, the bus and some weaving.

Some dinner ladies helped with Key Stage 3 children knitting and making people.
An after school club was formed, inviting Key Stage 2 children to come, also they came in their dinner time.  The windmills were constructed so that the sails turned.  The edge was made from a clippy mat format using Kingsway sweatshirt fabric.  Buttons were sewn on to represent rocks and shells were used on the beach area
