Thropton First School

What our tapestry is about :
At Thropton First School we based our tapestry on our surrounding countryside and our identity.  We wove our background using a variety of stitches to create the rich textures.  Out countryside is very green, hence a variety of greens in the design.

How we made our Tapestry:
Every child from nursery to Y4 was involved in the project and the adults were allowed to start and finish off stitches.  The tapestry was left out in the classroom and the children worked on it whenever there was time. Following a short demonstration on making a stump face, the children were fired with enthusiasm and all Y2--Y4 children made a face each; then followed sheep.  As Northumberland still has red squirrels and it's our school emblem, squirrels abound our tapestry.  The tapestry chows the lovely countryside of the Coquet valley and what the children feel is their national identity.  Look out for the Angel of the North and Cragside.  The children followed their design enthusiastically.  The sheep and the faces amused them.  They valued everyone's efforts
