'The Lambton Worm' is a song which was originally written in 1867 by C.M.
Leumane for a pantomime to be performed at the Tyne Theatre in Newcastle
upon Tyne. The text of the song has been used in this project by
Northumberland Grid for Learning to create an animated version of the story
which can be used in Literacy lessons as an example of a traditional tale.
There are currently two dialect versions of the story: Northumbrian and
Geordie, plus a new sung version by Stobhillgate First School Ceilidh
Band. A Standard English version is also available. |
