The Alnwick 1900 project is designed to provide local history study resources for schools.
It is based on the Bondgate Within area of Alnwick and uses photographs, historical maps and census data to help pupils recreate a street scene in Alnwick at the turn of the century. A number of resources and suggestions for using them are provided for teachers to download and the project supports the use of ICT in History. The activities are written to encourage pupils to use authentic detail when writing about the past in both factual and fictional ways. In this way the project is intended to make links between historical writing and literacy.
