This session will interest anyone from any key stage who is interested in using technology to enhance language learning. Teachnology is about looking at effective, challenging resources which allow learners to produce work they can be proud of and build up into a portfolio in the target language. All resources demonstrated are free, tried and tested. You will leave being confident in glogging, goanimating, stixying, tweeting and more!”

Discover how narrative techniques used in the oral tradition of storytelling can encourage emergent talk in young learners.

Using film in the languages classroom

Film is a great way to engage learners and is an effective tool for developing language and introducing students to cultural topics. The focus of this session will be an overview of using short foreign language films in the classroom, showing you where to find them and exploring how they might be used. Aimed primarily at high school teachers, we will consider examples in French, German and Spanish ...time permitting!

Be creative with 2Simple software

All Northumberland schools now have a full site licence for the 2 Simple Collection - a suite of 29 easy to use programs, a number of which are ideal for creative use in the languages classroom. This is a hands on session which will focus on the use of 2Publish+, 2Create a Story and 2Animate.

Participants will have the opportunity to use the new Samsung Netbooks with built in webcams to try their hand at making animated stories with sound, postcards, leaflets, comic strips, newspapers, animations....etc etc!

Planning for creativity using the revised MFL framework for Key Stage 3

 Presenter: Sue Brown, Northumberland Secondary Strategy Consultant

This workshop will investigate what we mean by creativity in language learning and how the revised KS3 framework could be used to promote it. We will explore the background to the revised framework and the principles that underpin it, as well as look at the structure of the framework and its objectives.  The group will consider strategies for planning using the objectives and will have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues.

This “Fawlty Towers” style animated soap opera will give you and your pupils just the right turn of phrase for the most exasperating of situations.
