SMART notebook resources

A series of three Smart Notebook files which provide an introduction to using musical notation with children in KS1 & 2.
 
Unit 1: provides an introduction to musical notation
Unit 2: concerned primarily with rhythm, but also focuses on time signatures, timbre and dynamics.
Unit 3: focuses on using rhythmic 'ostinatos' and is most suited for KS2 children. There is also an attached Finale Notation file.

Sing and Talk

A 2nd Edition of 'Sing and Talk', the popular book of simple songs  to support the learning of letter sounds with young children has been produced new for 2006 and now includes Smart Notebook files. A sample file is available to download and an audio track can be played.

The Music House

An interactive musical activity aimed at young children:
Listen to and learn the names and sounds of four percussion instruments
Hear a sound and match it to an instrument
Listen to a rhythm and copy it on the onscreen drum
Hear a piece of music which uses three of four instruments and find the instrument which doesn't play.

Wolly's friends

Wolly's friends is a collection of songs composed to help young children become familiar with language as well as music. They are provided online you you to try out. The A3 big book, with music and lyrics, plus accompanying cd-rom costs £20 + £2.50 postage and packing and can be ordered from: Northumberland Schools Music Service, Education Development Centre, Hepscott Park, Stannington, Morpeth, Northumberland NE61 6NF
