Learning Landscapes

What do we believe?

All children have a right to play in the outdoors, not only so they will learn to appreciate the rich heritage of their local environment but also to inspire a life long passion for learning.
Outside is where young children want to be. They have the same enthusiasm for a muddy puddle in the back yard as a day trip to the beach or woods. When outside, children engage in meaningful experiences where they naturally ask questions, solve problems, learn to cooperate and develop positive self esteem.
The stimulation, space and challenge that the outdoor environment offers, provides the perfect setting for young children’s learning.

When outdoors children learn to:

enjoy and respect the natural environment

      manage risk

acquire a healthy, active lifestyle which could help prevent potential heart and other diseases

develop a sense of community through shared projects

develop skills, knowledge and attitudes across all areas of the curriculum in a meaningful and enjoyable context
