This time around Nodis has taken on a pirate theme, which made our Celebration Day extra special this year as Alnwick Garden was invaded by hordes of fearsome, cutlass-wielding characters with striped t-shirts, artistic scars, tattoos, stubble and eyepatches (and that was just the teachers!)
Pirates have really
taken over our schools recently thanks to the wonderful new resource, The Pirate’s
Chest and Other Body Parts from Shoofly Publishing. The twelve poems and vast bank of linked resources which make up The Pirate's Chest are explored as part of the innovative Pirates
Online project featuring Bonnie Annie.
Special thanks to Anne
Curtis, the inspirational creator and director of Shoofly Publishing, who
not only attended the Nodis event, but generously donated fantastic prizes to
the overall winners in 5 categories:
Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2, Upper Key Stage 2 and Special Schools
Thanks also to the staff and pupils of the following schools who took part in the celebration event with such enthusiasm and certainly made it a day to remember!
...and finally, we must also thank Alnwick Garden, who once again have supported us in this celebration event.
