PSHE
and citizenship
is a main focus of the school, and is intrinsically linked to our Christian
ethos and aims. Aspects of the non-statutory guidance for PSHE have been clearly
linked to areas of the National Curriculum, to the school's faith foundation,
and to specific teaching strategies (such as Thinking Skills) by a system of
matrix planning for Foundation, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This method of
planning has proved highly effective (as reflected in recent OFSTED report 2001
and Section 23 report) and has been shared many schools through the Beacon initiative.

Definitions
For
each Key Stage (including Foundation Stage) we have designed a matrix to link
various aspects of our school life, ethos and curriculum to PSHE guidance statements.
Specific curriculum topics and themes can also be matched. Each column in the
matrix can be given a heading, such as: · school aims · behaviour/discipline
· circle time · home-school links · classroom routine · literacy · thinking
skills · self-assessment Contact us for further details!
